Should you hire a Videographer for your Wedding Elopement?
Introduction
If you’re planning to elope in the near future, or even having a wedding in general, you’re most likely putting videography on the back of your mind. This is actually very common in today’s Wedding Industry culture during the planning process for most brides & couples. We’ve heard many stories from clients and relatives of our clients say things like “I wish I would’ve thought of having a wedding videographer” or “I’m hiring a wedding videographer for my daughter’s wedding because I never had a wedding video, and it’s nice to have when you’re older”. Most people in general don’t like seeing themselves on camera so when their first instinct is to avoid it all together! But what if you’re skipping the blowout wedding and instead opting to elope at the courthouse? What if you want a private 5-person max wedding ceremony in a park? Should you even consider hiring a videographer?
Anderson & Brin’s Wedding Elopement
Anderson & Brin had a very small & quaint wedding elopement in the Texas Hill Country in August of 2022. It was a very beautiful ceremony for a very lovely couple. You can find their wedding video along with many others in our “Wedding Elopements” section on our “Wedding’s, Quince’s & Events” page. That’s right! – We do so many elopements that we’ve dedicated a whole section to it on our website.
Videography vs Photography
Before going too into the subject, we’ll first have to talk about the differences between Wedding Videography & Photography. Wedding photos are awesome to have. There’s nothing like an artist with a camera, capturing a singular moment in time and creating a memory for you to cherish and share with friends & family for the rest of your lives. At the end of the day however, a photo is just that, a singular moment in time. As the years go on, the memories of your wedding day slowly start to fade and before you know it, all you have is those precious photos. That may not be a bad thing necessarily but that’s why having a dedicated videographer is equally as important to have for your wedding. We don’t just capture a moment in time, we capture your wedding day as it actually happened. You get to watch and relive those moments unfrozen in time with all the smiles, tears, and joy you had on your wedding day.
Who’s coming to the Wedding? Why Elope?
There are many reasons why a couple can choose to elope for their wedding day. Some want to skip the large bill that comes with a blowout wedding. Some always pictured a small but quaint wedding day without all the stress that comes with the planning process. Some couples found their life partner much later in life and have had a few marriages before, so eloping just feels more right, because they want to start their “forever-after” as soon as possible. Whatever the reason, most wedding elopements are small and most of the family won’t be able to make it. Beyond getting a wedding video for you, having one to share for your parents, friends and family is also a great reason to have your ceremony filmed.
Livestreaming the Ceremony
This may not be an issue now, but during covid (2020) we had a huge increase in wedding elopements because of the limitations of large gatherings and travel. You might even have some family that can’t travel even after covid simply due to their age. Our solution of course was to professionally livestream the ceremony. Now yes, you can buy an inexpensive phone holder and Facebook livestream your ceremony but that comes with a few complications that most people won’t foresee. The biggest one is audio quality. At a smaller wedding like an elopement, there isn’t a need for the officiant to speak loudly and clearly since he’s mainly talking only to the couple in front of him, therefore it’s hard for the phone to pick-up what anyone is saying. The next biggie is data. Most phone livestreams drop out depending on the location of the wedding or the carrier of the device. That’s why we have top of the line livestreaming services so you don’t have to and so your family can enjoy the ceremony of your wedding day.
How can we help?
“Now-now Mr. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for a videographer. I’m not having a huge wedding – it’s just a small ceremony. Would you still come out for a 1-hour wedding?” That’s where San Antonio Video Productions (SAVP) is different from the majority of wedding videographers in the state of Texas. Instead of limiting your options and selling you 3-4 packages with set hours, we offer custom hourly pricing for our couples, so that way you can decide just how long you need a videographer. We’ve found that giving our clients options is the best way to keep our clients happy and stress-free when planning their wedding – we know budgeting is on the top of everyone’s minds!
